So I thought I'd start off with a blog about my favorite book series (currently). I tend to forget to capitalize words when appropriate so, please forgive my digressions.
Right now I am in love with Cassandra Clare's Shadow Hunters series. The original series The Mortal Instruments, the prequel series The Infernal Devices, and the upcoming sequel series The Dark Artifices. I walked by the books and checked out the covers for months. I wasn't sure I would like them, but the covers were intriguing. I finally bought the first 3, City of Bones, City of Ashes, and City of Glass. I devoured them so quickly I surprised even myself. They are YA books and I am not a YA, but I love supernatural. It's difficult in the adult genre to find supernatural books that don't revolve around sexual relationships. I enjoy mystery and adventure in my books which is just what these books have.
Right now I am without the Shadow Hunters until March of 2013, so I have been reading other series. I will have many more books to blog about with good and bad reviews.
To keep this review short, this series is well written, imaginative, and lots of fun. There are some slightly steamy moments sprinkled throughout without giving up the innocence of the characters. There are some jumps between characters so you don't miss what everyone is doing and the story lines don't get off track or suffer from the switches. Plenty of action and adventure mixed with comedy and plenty of drama. A love triangle, many mythical creatures, and yes there are same gender relationships.
While I have plenty of reading to keep me occupied until next year, I can't forget my Shadow Hunters. I hope the sequel series coming in 2015 will be just as wonderful.
